Afflictions Under the Father’s Hand

Your afflictions may only prove that you are more immediately under the Father’s hand. There is no time that the patient is such an object of tender interest to the surgeon, as when he is bleeding beneath his knife. So you may be sure if you are suffering from the hand of a reconciled God, that His eye is all the more bent on you.

I love this quote. It reminds me of “whom The Lord loves, he disciplines”. What father does not discipline his child. “that I my know Him and the power of His resurrection through the fellowship of suffering”….we come to know Him intimately and are brought near to Him when we suffer, gaining a fuller understanding of His resurrection power in us. Yet, it does not feel nice to receive this discipline or endure the suffering!

I’m glad you like it and that Michael posted it on his blog. You did a nice job of combining Hebrews 12 and Philippians 3.

I don’t like it either, but I’m glad God at least uses suffering for something. Thank you for commenting.
