Jeff, thanks for this verse. I need it.

You’re welcome. This really stuck out to me. It’s strange how you see a verse and think you didn’t read it, even though you have dozens of times.

The way you presented that seems a bit skewed in context. I am not sure it is God’s will that we suffer, but when we suffer as we all will at times in this life, that we follow Christ’s example by entrusting ourselves to God. Entrusting ourselves and our situations to God is His will. Restoration is His plan!

1 Peter 2:23 (New International Version)

23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

1 Peter 5:10 (New International Version)

10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

  4. 4 Scripture Zealot

He’s talking about those suffering for the gospel, which was the context I lifted it out of, but Jesus did say we will certainly suffer (John 16:33 ?). And when we do it is His will.

I like your word of entrusting ourselves to God.

That’s why Scripture is described as “living and active.” It comes alive, giving fresh insights, depending on the life situation.
