Miscellaneous Stuff

I predict that this blog will drop out of the top ten of The Biblioblog Top 50 list. I’ve been posting less and my Alexa rating is very slowly going down for the first time since July. No problem. I’ve in a been in a bit of a blogging slump but also trying to spend less time on the internet and more time reading. Plus there are a lot of finer blogs than mine to come and fill in the spot.

The Greek is going well but I forgot to review verbs for a while. That set me back while I went back and reviewed them for a few days. If you’re learning Greek on your own don’t forget the verbs.

I plan on reading the NLT Mosaic devotional starting on Nov. 29 with Advent. Is anyone with me?

I plan on reading through the OT next year (using the NLT 24/7 Chronological Bible). Is anyone with me?

I just got done reading Polishing God’s Monuments which is about suffering. It’s very good even if a little unbalanced in writing style and sometimes a bit cheesy like when an author says, “Friends…” I don’t know why that sounds weird. I’m not really his friend. A brother in Christ certainly.

Speaking of friends I’m on Facebook now and am able to keep up with some of my blogging friends.

Did you hear Sarah Palin wrote a book? Wow!!! Let’s dissect every sentence in the book and assign a motive to it. Those who love her and think she is the greatest thing since politics can talk about how great she is. Those who hate her and are afraid of her or who have SPS (Sarah Palin Syndrome) can talk about how fake and malicious she is. Can one of the antichrists be female? I suppose the egalitarians will have to say yes and the complementarians no. Or would that be the other way around… Let’s scour her book and the Bible and then use whatever bits we can to make our point!

Speaking of taking things out of context–I was wondering if the Bible didn’t have verse numbers would there be less sentences taken out of context. Maybe people would pay attention to the surrounding text better. But then I realized how the media takes things out of context all the time and really, all of us do to certain degrees when we want to defend a position or idea. So I guess it wouldn’t really matter. Never mind.

You see how much I post, and my ranking is dropping fast. I suspect that it is because that I have syndicated my entire RSS feed so while I gain subscribers, my rankings are slipping.

But, it is the readers that matter.

Regarding the verse thing – yep, I agree.

    Seems like there’s a big gap between 2nd and 3rd. ?

I think I could stay in the top 10 but it would be for all the wrong reasons.

I have a NT translated by Lattimore that’s like a regular book and I know there is a TNIV edition that’s the same. I’d like to read it sometime without the verse numbers and section headings.

I guess that’s where I am at, Jeff. I am going to take some time off in December from blogging, to refresh a bit.

    Jeff, wonderful thoughts.

Btw, if the Bible didn’t have verses, I wouldn’t be able to blog. It’s what keeps me bloggin, the out-of-context thing. 😀

    Thanks TC.

    I know you’re kidding. *smiley*
