The Desiring God Blog Allows Comments Now

The Desiring God Blog Now Has Comments (Most blog posts are by John and Abraham Piper)

Maybe John MacArthur will follow suit but I doubt it.

(Sorry for the delay in responding, Jeff. I didn’t get around to this post yesterday.)

What’s with these people? So many of these “prominent” leaders who write blogs don’t allow comments. Are they afraid of dealing with their readers? Or maybe it’s just that they think there will be so many comments that they won’t have time to police them all. Or they just don’t want to deal with the adulations of such a crowd of admirers.

I’m pleased that the Pipers are willing to try opening up their comments. I wish MacArthur would, too. And Maxie Dunnam, a leader of the evangelicals in the UMC writes a blog, but the comments are closed. I got his e-mail from a guy who knows him, but of course I won’t bother him beyond the one e-mail I sent him a few weeks ago. Ya gotta respect people’s privacy.

Well, at least we allow comments, huh, Jeff!

Gary, I don’t think John MacArthur even owns a computer (seriously) or I know he at least doesn’t access the internet. (I heard him say this in a mini-interview after a sermon on TV.) So someone would have to reply on the comments for him. Somebody else types these things up and posts them for him.

Although if someone calls it a “blog” they should probably allow discussion. Otherwise just post articles.

I suppose you and I have more time to waste on the interwebz. It’s a double edged sword.
    Jeff
