ISV NT Wordle

I downloaded the ISV New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs and thought I would Wordle the NT. I think this has been done with the ESV but I thought I would do it myself since I have all the text.

I’m going to be taking a closer look at the ISV and tracking its progress. The translation is much better than the quality of their web site might suggest.

Good stuff, Jeff, and thanks for the heads up!  I too I’m looking forward to the ISV, but its website is awful. :-)

i have to agree with TC. excited but the website could be nicer. also, i considered buying one of their books already in print but it was $30 and i don’t really want to spend that much until it’s officially out in full.

The ISV is one of the versions I use for comparison in e-Sword. Their website looks like it was made in the days of Moses.

I would actually love to “get behind” the ISV, but, aside from their website, they’re going about the whole “open source” thing incorrectly.  It would be nice if they released their bible under an open licence and ran the project like a big software project–with a bug tracker, real revision control, signed packages–throngs of developers would probably chip in.  I find the download in doc format to be a useless monstrosity. It irks me a little bit that they claim to be a bible for a computer generation while throwing out word’s like “open source” and “version numbers”, but ignoring established conventions for being open.I like the ISV, I bought the paperback New Testament, and really hope to support the project, but they did not write the bible, no publisher did.  If the ISV Foundation wants to impress me with its forward thinking they need to open up, and not just say they are open while continuing with business as usual. Sorry for the soap box :-)

No problem Tom. I wonder how open they are to comments and suggestions.

The Word doc is nice to have but it is in fact unwieldy.

They could also clean up “a bunch” of the writing in the Catacombs like:
…we didn’t base the ISV on Westcott and Hort’s text. We used a bunch of texts.”
