Speaking of the frightening "crack" when opening a Bible, I have a Cambridge REB in French Morocco Leather that makes such a "crack" each time I open it I think the whole binding is going to come loose.I should probably contact them about that. It is unnerving.

I know nothing about bindings which is partly why I looked for that quote by Laura Bartlett because I wouldn't know a sewn from a glued binding much less how long they last. This one didn't "crack" open which always makes me feel like something broke. I also noticed how flat it lays.
Jeff

The theme notes are one of my favorite features, too, Jeff.As for the binding, I was aware that it was glued as well, but I am impressed with how well it lays open, nice and flat without hardly any persuasion. I wonder how much of that has to do with the paper itself, and how much has to do with the way it's glued. I always hate to see any glued book falling apart, but there seems to be very little strain on this binding.

Stan, yeah all those NLT/Tyndale people are great including Laura Bartlett.

Bryon, as a former photographer as an occupation I'm kind of embarrassed to say that my camera is a Casio QV 4000. But it has a Canon lens in it, has manual control and has a PC outlet for external flash which is essential for me and unusual for these cameras.
Jeff

Jeff, Nice review. Your photography skills are shining through again.I share your dislike for red letters and your appreciation of the Hebrew/Greek word studies. And isn't Laura one of the most helpful people?!

You're welcome. I'm looking forward to using the online version.

Right now there isn't anything there for the URL given for full access. Maybe a temp page could be put there just so we know we've got the correct URL. Probably not of great importance because only a few of us have it.

Thanks for reading.
Jeff

Thanks for the review. Nice photos, too. I appreciate the input about the word studies. I'll consider putting the actual Hebrew & Greek words in the word study index in a later update of the online NLTSB. Hopefully the Strong's numbering in the feature helps for now.

Iyov I will leave your comment here because I appreciate any pointers to errors. That's the second time I've typed NTL instead of NLT and can't believe I didn't see it.

mike I found this on another review from the woman at Tyndale:
"Yes, I can confirm that the bindings of the NLTSBs are all glued. It's a strong binding and should last for many years, as long as it's not mistreated. That said, I do know of at least one person who plans to have his rebound with a sewn binding and high-end leather cover."
--Laura Bartlett

From: This Lamp comments

I knew I saw it somewhere so I thought I would track it down so that I wouldn't be misinforming.
Jeff

That first picture looks like the binding is glue injected rather than sewn. Is that the case?
