Esther Wordled

Since the book of Esther doesn’t mention God I thought it would be interesting to see what it does mention so I Wordled it using the ESV. It didn’t turn out very interesting but since I took the time to do it I thought I’d post it. Click on the image to see a larger one.

Esther

Esther contains the longest verse in the Bible:

Esther 8:9 HCSB
On the twenty-third day of the third month (that is, the month Sivan), the royal scribes were summoned. Everything was written exactly as Mordecai ordered for the Jews, to the satraps, the governors, and the officials of the 127 provinces from India to Cush. [The edict was written] for each province in its own script, for each ethnic group in its own language, and to the Jews in their own script and language.

    Hi Jeff,
I am trying to put the notice of the BibleDude.Net award on my site, but am not finding out how to copy the code into my Blogger layout. I know how to do it, but can not get my machine to copy the code (I even found the code, but it would not copy). Just wanted you to know I am trying. If you have data to help, please feel free to leave me a message.
    Blessings!

    Try this:

    <a href=”http://bibledude.net/WordPress/?p=92″><img src=”http://bibledude.net/WordPress/wp-content/uploads/excellence_award.gif” alt=”Award” /></a>

To add it to the sidebar go to Layout - Page Elements and choose Add a Page Element. Then choose HTML/Javascript and add the code.

When adding it to a regular post, choose Edit HTML and enter it there as opposed to Compose.

Let me know if that doesn’t work.

For some reason it is not receiving it. It would not show anything on my blog but a ? and the title I gave it.

    Any further suggestions?

I see what might be happening. The code I gave you has “smart quotes”, the slanted kind. When you insert that code remove all the quotes and put in the regular quote mark from your keyboard. I was able to get that to work in a sidebar of a Blogger blog.

I don’t have your email address so I’m writing here which is fine.

Jeff, thank you so much for helping. It still will not register anything but the title, so I am going to leave the title there and will blog about the award a bit later in the day with all the items needed there. I am having more and more trouble with blogger, so may try to work with Word Press. I hesitate due to my limited skills here and my time constraints. Also I have begun to get an increase in readers, and I do not want to loose them in the process. My email is required for a comment, so hopefully you can access it. Use it if you choose, otherwise, replies here are fine. Thank you for trying. Blessings.

    Hey,
I traced your blog down through links from Theologer.  One of the things I am interested in is interface between faith and technology and science.  Your Wordle of Esther caught my eye.  My blog Christianity 3.0 began with a post inspired by Douglas Rushkoff’s talk on “A New Rennaissance” at IT Conversations.  When I read the book of Esther again recently, I thought I was going to hate it.  It is really a very subversive text though.  Portraying the earthly powers and human plans in all their impotence.Grace and Peace, Mike

    Hi Mike,
Thanks for stopping by. I’ll have to look at your blog.

I like reading about people like Esther, Daniel and Joseph.

I choose to go with Type Pad. The Word Press data was a bit daunting for one with such limited computer know how. I do O.K. when it works well, but when it gets messed up I have trouble knowing what to do. So please visit me there as you choose.

That looks really nice. I hope you like it there.
