When I think of spiritual growth and revival, I usually think of Zech 4:6:

“Then he said to me, “This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies” (NLT).

His definition sounds just like what Strong’s and BDB say about “reviving” in Psalm 19:7 now that I look more into it.

I prefer to think of revival as spiritual restoration. As my pastor put it recently:

“Revival is not a special period of extraordinary religious excitement. Rather, it is an outpouring of the Holy Spirit which restores the people of God to normal spiritual life after a period of coldness and decline.”
