Can Christians Become Demon-Possessed? What Is True Conversion?

Can Christians Become Demon-Possessed? (<– link) by John MacArthur

What does God’s Word, the touchstone of truth, say? Can demons inhabit or spatially indwell a true believer? Can they walk through an open door and become a squatter? Proponents of today’s spiritual warfare movement say yes, but they base their answer on subjective experience, not on God’s Word. The Bible makes it clear that such a claim has no justifiable basis.

–John MacArthur

if there is no real and lasting change in people who think they are converted, their religion is worthless, whatever their experiences may be.

It is my take that someone in whom the Holy Spirit resides cannot be possessed by demons, only influenced, as by sin.

    Nice summation.

Jeff, I have to agree with my affection for Nathan’s summary too. It’s quite good!

As a footnote, we must always let Scripture speak. When we do, a lot of these errors conclusions, would not be there.

Nathan should write commentaries. Then we wouldn’t have to read 1000 page treatises.

There were so many things I took for granted without looking really looking into Scripture. I suppose I didn’t really have the tools or know how for a long time. Not I’m all that skilled yet.

I like the article by John MacArthur for the following day too:
    Does Satan know our thoughts?
The last two sentences sum it up. (That’s what Nathan would write.)

A well known teacher and author came at that idea from another angle where they say that we must speak our prayers out loud to combat Satan. All the Scripture this person quoted was taken out of context.

Jeff, we’re all learning. The beauty about it all is that we get to examine our beliefs in light of Scripture.

I can’t tell you how many erroneous views I have been rescued from. Sometimes, I just look back and smile.

    AHA!!!

Your comment on TC’s blog makes total sense now, LOL. I’m going to have to start checking your blog manually, because I can’t track my comments here easily enough to follow up on replies.

  7. 7 Scripture Zealot

What would you like prayer for? Please let us know and we would love to help. Do you mean lost spiritually or related to salvation?
    Jeff
