Zealots, whatever their cause, invariably lack a sense of humor.
–Paul Graham
I take exception to that!
I went to a restaurant that serves ‘breakfast at any time.’ So I ordered French Toast during the Renaissance.

My most humorous (or sad) Bible verse:
Acts 17:23
For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, ‘To the unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.
–Paul
What’s yours?

The passage that has been saddest to me recently is from Jeremiah 2, especially v.13.
(Jer 2:11) Has a nation changed its gods, even though they are no gods? But my people have changed their glory for that which does not profit.
(Jer 2:12) Be appalled, O heavens, at this; be shocked, be utterly desolate, declares the LORD,
(Jer 2:13) for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.
Exchanging the glory of God, forsaking Him, trying to create something that can satisfy a soul outside of Him…
The more I think about Acts 17:23 the more I realize that we have created our own unknown (or unnamed) gods. We don’t build statues, have a ceremony or make sacrifices to them but they are there and our culture makes it awfully difficult, as it was for the Corinthians.
